At the halfway mark, there are a few noticeable, dominant trends for Fall 2011. From Fashion Week, here’s what Everything She Wants has observed so far:
Tailored and structured jackets: Rebecca Minkoff showcased new jacket shapes and a modern interpretation of a Chanel jacket with her tweed and black leather asymmetrical Moto jacket. Meanwhile, Vivienne Tam’s Chinese-opera-inspired jackets were a hit. As Style.com described Tam’s innovative outerwear, her “structured collars swooped off the shoulders into sculpted wings.”
Lady in red: Prabal Gurung and Costello Tagliapietra reminded us that nothing makes a statement quite like a bold red dress.

Sheer inspiration: Christian Siriano flaunted a long sheer black skirt paired with a tailored black jacket. Rebecca Taylor’s fresh runway looks included a similar sheer black skirt, but her sheer, bohemian print harem pants and dresses were standouts.
Cape crusader: St. John presented luxe cashmere capes and Rebecca Minkoff showed off a black wool and leather cape paired with black quilted leather jeans.

Black celebration: Black is the color of choice for fall, especially for New Yorkers. So it’s appropriate, although a bit boring that Christian Siriano, Daryl K, all Rebecca Minkoff all showcased lots of black separates.
Lady in red: Prabal Gurung and Costello Tagliapietra reminded us that nothing makes a statement quite like a bold red dress.
A long walk: Lindsay Lohan may have made headlines wearing a get-me-bodied white mini-dress, but long hemlines have dominated the fall 2011 runway.
Ray of light: While many designers opted for black and muted earth tones, Jill Stuart, Costello Tagliapietra, and Libertine weren’t afraid of color. Libertine, especially, used dramatic splashes of color that put a modern, graphic spin on brand designer Johnson Hartig’s ‘60s, vintage-inspired silhouettes.
