The name Moises de la Renta may not be immediately recognizable, but he's the son of legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.
At 25, the Dominican Republic native has already dressed Michelle Obama (she wore a design from his Autumn '09 collection). Now we can all feel like a First Lady when Moises' limited edition line of t-shirts ($49.90 - $69.90) arrive in Mango stores in April.
The preview for his Mango collection was charming; very ladies who lunch-meets-Alice in Wonderland. I've always wanted to have afternoon tea. And SoHo's trendy Crosby Street Hotel was the perfect setting for sipping champagne and noshing on scones, crustless cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches, and scones and cakes with jam.
Red-lipped models sashayed about, showing off the luxe tees embellished with jewels, precious stones, and tulle paired with '40s-style tulle skirts.
"My inspiration for this collection," he says, "were the traditional romantic themes from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in sombre colours...to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny and adornments in between."
